Phyllis Mae (Barnett) Garrison Michau, 87, wife of George Daniel "Danny" Michau of Rainbow Drive in Staunton passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 in Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia.
Phyllis was born on May 26, 1932 in Albemarle County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Jesse L. Barnett and Myrtle Elizabeth Barnett Rorrer.
Phyllis was a lifelong Christ follower, and most recently a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton. She lived her faith every day of the week. Prior to her health issues she was active in choir and in her circle and was always ready with a fabulous homemade pie for anyone needing support. Whatever she did, she did with all her heart - homemaking, marriage, parenting, grandparenting, being there for her mom, sisters and brothers and nieces and nephews, cooking, sewing. She was blessed with strong independence and deep love for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond L. Garrison; two sisters, Maude Gibson and Lucille Switzer; four brothers, Clyde Barnett, Fulton Barnett, Mason Barnett and Daniel Rorrer.
Surviving in addition to her husband of twenty years is a daughter, Barbara G. Kastner and her husband Fred of Cary, North Carolina; a son, Mark L. Garrison of Staunton; a step-son, Kerry Todd Michau of Richmond, Virginia: a step-daughter, Pamela Trapani of Sandy Hook, Virginia; two sisters, Emily Frances Coffey and her husband Russell of Winter Haven, Florida and Doris Swenson of Stanardsville, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Michael Garrison, Jill Panichelli and husband Scott, Cory Garrison and wife Megan, Brandon Garrison, Jesse Garrison, Joseph A Hudson, Allison P. Wright and Miranda Michau; five great grandchildren, Alexandra and Nathan Panichelli, Vivian, Beck, and Sadie Garrison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Mark W. Jones.
A Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401 or to SACRA, 205 North Augusta Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
