Paul Edwin Thorne, 68, husband of Allene Christine (Davis) Thorne of 328 Betsy Bell Road passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Thorne was born in Staunton on October 3, 1945, a son of the late Charlie Edward and Eva Preston (Cason) Thorne.
Paul was a member of the Middlebrook Church of God. He was a retired landscaper from Village Garden Center and had previously worked for Central Security in Harrisonburg and Henry Funeral Home. He enjoyed collecting stuffed goats and monkeys.
Surviving in addition to his wife of twenty-eight years are two step-sons, Earl J. McCray, Jr. and wife Lisa of Craigsville and Danny McCray of Arlington; a granddaughter, Dana Nicole Shomo and her husband Hunter of Fishersville; a special niece, Sherry Hite of Staunton; a brother, Charles P. Paw-Paw Thorne and wife Shirley of Staunton; two sisters, Sylvia T. Shirey and husband Paul C., Jr. of Staunton and Rosa T. Rosie Bosserman and husband Ray, Jr. of Stafford; a special friend brother, Charles Sheffey and a number of nieces, nephews and many close friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Larry Strickler and Pastor Merle Dodson.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Mike DiGrassie, Ray Bosserman, Jr., Paul Shirey, Jr., Tom Patterson, Mark Cook, Tim Cason, Mike Thorne and Greg Bosserman.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews attending the service.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
