Paul Allegree P.A. Shelton, Jr., 81 husband of Elizabeth (Biggs) Shelton of 728 Aintree Place, departed this life on Monday, November 2, 2009 in the University of Virginia Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Shelton, Sr of Hillsborough, NC; his mother and step-father, Pauline K. and Stephen A. Sales, Sr. of Clifton Forge and a very special great-uncle, William Kern.
Born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on March 7, 1928, he was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School. He served in the United States Army from 1952 1954, was employed by the C \u0026 O, Chessie System and CSX Railways, retiring after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Chapter of the B.P.O.E. for more than 55 years. Known for his sense of humor, P.A. was a dedicated Husband, Father and friend and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Libby (Biggs) Shelton to whom he married on November 2, 1956; a daughter, Leslie Carol Shelton of Staunton; and two sons, Michael Steele Shelton of Staunton and David Carson Shelton of Richmond; two brothers, Allen B. Sales and his wife Mary Ann and Stephen A. Sales, Jr. and his wife Jan all of Clifton Forge; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Smith of Fredericksburg and Mildred Caldwell of Covington; brother-in-law, Lacy Biggs of Covington; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 in the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2501 5th Street, Staunton by the Rev. Robert R. vonOeyen, Jr.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
