Paul Wesley Kirtz's Obituary

Paul Wesley Kirtz, 78, husband of Dorothy Jane Dottie (Throckmorton) Kirtz of Staunton passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Kirtz was born August 2, 1932 in Augusta County, a son of the late Russell Ransom and Mary Belle (Mowry) Kirtz.

Mr. Kirtz was a retired accounting clerk after twenty-eight years of service with the United States Postal Service in Charlottesville, he was a member of White Hill Church of the Brethren and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed music, reading and he loved watching the Boston Red Sox play ball.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Jay Kirtz; four sisters, Agnes (Kirtz) Gunsalus, Grace (Kirtz) Puffenbarger, Louise (Kirtz) Massey and Jeanne (Kirtz) Skorupski.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of fifty-eight years, are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jan Paul Kirtz and his wife Analiza of Fishersville, Jeffrey Ransom Jeff Kirtz of Staunton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Lee Cherie (Kirtz) Zeiner and her husband David and Kristina Marie Kirtz , all of Staunton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Russell Kirtz and his wife Beverly of Conway, SC, James Phillip Kirtz and his wife Billie of Stuarts Draft; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Hallie (Kirtz) Dieter and her husband Melvin of Lyndhurst, Katherine (Kirtz) Gilbert of Staunton, Rebecca (Kirtz) DeMasters of Fishersville and Glenna (Kirtz) Carroll and her husband Charles of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Tiffany Collins, Allison Zeiner, Emily Hoffman, Meaghann Zeiner, Tyler Kirtz and Wesley Kirtz; three great-grandchildren, Alex Collins, Kiersten Collins and Ella Hoffman; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the White Hill Church of the Brethren by Pastor James Chappell.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Wesley Kirtz, Brandon Hoffman, Tucker Labadie, Ronnie Cash, Lane Thomas and Jamie Shipe.

The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
