Paul Russell Almarode, 82, husband of Helen (Boyne) Almarode of 1900 Hillsmere Lane passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Emeritus of Staunton.
Mr. Almarode was born on May 18, 1932 in New Hope, a son of the late Russell Warren and Florence Gertrude (Whitesell) Almarode.
Paul was a member of Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church and retired in 1984 from DuPont with over thirty years of service. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and woodworking. Mr. Almarode sang for many years with the Rockingham Male Chorus as well as singing in church and nursing homes.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Almarode was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Wandless and a brother, Oscar T. Almarode.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years, is a son, Michael Mike Almarode and his wife Vicki of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Pam Ritchie and her husband Jeff of Churchville; two step-sons, Howard McNeal and his wife Linda of Verona; and Robert Nicely and his wife Robin of Minnesota; a step-daughter, Linda Ownby and her husband Neil of Quicksburg; a twin sister, Pauline Almarode of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Fred Almarode of Waynesboro; eleven grandchildren, Chelsea Almarode, Kaitlyn Almarode, Dexter Ritchie, Victor Ritchie, Brady Ritchie, Nicole Corbin, Megan Dull, Tyler Meadows, Zach Meadows, Chad Mawyers, and Angela Mawyers; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Mr. Almarodes son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vicki Almarode, 89 Kline Drive, Stuarts Draft.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Brett Perrett and Allen Swarey.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Floyd Campbell, Richard Peters, Harold George, Willie McNeal, John Farrish and Charlie Hisey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Almarodes grandchildren.
