Obituary

Paul Aaron Abbey, 72, husband of Mary Elizabeth (Moore) Abbey of 348 Lake Road, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Abbey was born on April 20, 1944 in Corning, New York, a son of the late Luther Allen and Lucy Loretta (Loper) Abbey.
Paul was employed for Virginia Commonwealth University as a Director of Facilities for 24 years, and was a member of the Eagles in Florida, the Moose Lodge in Richmond and a proud member of the NRA. After retirement, he and Mary were able to live their dream of fulltime RVing and he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and Chevy trucks. Paul was always helping people in need and he never met a stranger.
Surviving in addition to the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, is a son, Allen Skip Bill of Waynesboro; two daughters, Sheila Halterman and her husband Donnie of Stuarts Draft and Wendy McDonald and her husband Michael of Rochester, NY; a brother, Gerald Gerry Abbey of Corning, NY; a sister, Carol Stone and her husband Merritt of Kill Devil Hills, NC; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February, 18, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, 1445 East Rio Road, Suite 104, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.
