Patricia Lou Davis (Stamp) Hanson, age 72, formally of Salem OH passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville, VA on February 6, 2010. She is survived by; two sons Joel Stamp and his wife Cheri, of Chesapeake, VA and Alan Stamp and his wife Diane, of Staunton, VA; three grandchildren, Joshua and Rebecca Stamp of Chesapeake, VA and JaymeLee Stamp Ewing of Staunton, VA; one brother, Owen Davis of Toledo, OH. She is also survived by her step-daughter; Kay Hanson, and step-grandchildren; Jeff Solomon and his wife Loni, and Paul Solomon and his wife Christine. She was preceded in death by her second husband of 10 years, George Hanson; and her parents, William Davis and Jessie Means Davis, both of Salem, OH.
Patricia was born in Barberton, OH and grew up in Doylestown, OH. Her life was always surrounded by music. She studied at Bowling Green State University, and then blessed others with her skills, by teaching piano to many students, from her home in Salem for over 25 years. She loved to sing and for many years, headed the choir at Winona United Methodist Church. She also played the piano, organ and sometimes the French Horn, at the Canfield Christian Church, as well as participated in the choir and orchestra with the First United Methodist Church in Salem. Patricia participated in the Salem area community choir and was a long time member of the Salem Music Study Club. She was a 50 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from Butler Wick after 25 years of service.
Two years ago, Patricia moved to Stuarts Draft, VA to be closer to both of her sons. She is and was a wonderful woman who had a loving, kind, and supportive spirit that became a friend to every person she met. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be missed by her family tremendously! Mom (Grandma), may God hold you in His loving arms and keep you. Your love remains in our hearts forever.
Coffman Funeral Home in Staunton, VA is handling the arrangements for the Stamp/Hanson Family. Services and a reception will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, located at 224 Taylor St., Staunton, VA 24401 on February, 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM as well as a memorial service to be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Salem, OH at First United Methodist Church, located at 244 S Broadway Ave, Salem, OH 44460 with burial to follow in the Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
