Patricia W. Davis
STAUNTON:
Patricia Anne (Wimmer) Davis, 61 of 196 Maine Circle, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at her residence.
Ms. Davis was born on February 13, 1950 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Evelyn (Echard) Shull and adopted parents, Archie M. and Ruby (James) Wimmer.
Patricia was of the Baptist Faith, watching the Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tenn., she worked as a Care-Giver for Home Instead Senior Care in Verona, and was a former Insurance Agent for 10 years with American General Life and Accident in Staunton and Monumental Life Insurance Company in Waynesboro. She was a member of the Staunton Eagles Lodge, the Verona Moose and attended Riverheads High School. Pat enjoyed her flower gardens, camping, bluegrass music, Face Booking, playing the game Farmville and helping other people which she did out of the goodness of her heart.
In addition to her mother and adopted parents, Ms. Davis was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence R. Shull; a sister, Elizabeth Shull Glass; a half brother, Horace James Wimmer, Sr. and life-long friend Alton Monroe.
Ms. Davis is survived by a son, George E. Thompson and his wife, Holly of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Wanda J. Althoff of Staunton and Joyce A. Johnson of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Philip, David and Luke Thompson, Morgan and Dalton Groah and Trevor Johnson; two special granddaughters; Sara (Snead) Weade and Carrie Snead; a great-grandson, Mason Weade and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by her son, Pastor George E. Thompson. Burial will follow in the Moscow Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Mt. Solon.
Active pallbearers will be Morgan Groah, Rich Tolley, Gary Flint, J.D. Painter, Dave Alexander, Richard Watts, Keith Carpenter and D.J. Wells.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and close and special friends, Oscar Snead, Donna and Randy Snead, Jamie Snead, Pat and Cindy Long, Charley Miller, Betty Allen, Ileta Sondrol and Jimmy Mays.
The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, October 24, 2011 from 6 to 8:00 p.m.in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or her residence at other times.
