Pansy Lee (McCray) Ashby, 94, widow of Frederick Lee Ashby, Sr., formerly of Orchard Road, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fishersville.
Mrs. Ashby was born September 26, 1919 in Swoope, a daughter of the late Sinclair and Della (Hatcher) McCray.
Pansy was retired from Genesco-L-Grief Company where she was employed as a presser. She liked bowling, shopping and she loved spending time and traveling with her family and was known for her baking.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ashby was preceded
in death by her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Ashby is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving is a son, Frederick Fred Ashby, Jr. of Staunton; a daughter, Nancy (Ashby) Graves and her husband Gary of Staunton;
three grandchildren, Keith Ashby and his wife Debbie, Rickie Graves and fiance Patti Butler and Deborah Arbogast and her husband Kirby; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Graves, Brittany Humphrey, Tory Humphrey, Austin Arbogast, Camron Ashby and Justin Ashby; three great-great-grandchildren, Blake Painter, Baleigh Painter, and Jonathan Lawry.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Charles E. Carroll and David Coffey.
Burial will follow at the Augusta Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers are Rickie Graves, Keith Ashby, Austin Arbogast, Kirby Arbogast and Tory Humphrey.
