Oscar L. Brooks

GREENVILLE -

Oscar Lee Brooks, 82, husband of Margie Marie (Sorrells) Brooks of 3481 Cold Springs Road made his final voyage Monday, November 8, 2010 in Augusta Health.
Mr. Brooks was born June 13, 1928 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Enoch Halliard Brooks, Sr. and Hattie Cornelia (Desper) Brooks.
Prior to his retiring as a self-employed painter Mr. Brooks was also retired from the United States Merchant Marines. He attended the Beacon of Hope Holiness Church, he loved gardening and enjoyed painting.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Earl Brooks and Enoch Brooks, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Ray Brooks and Dorothy Ann Brooks and a granddaughter, Brittany Brooks.
Surviving in addition to wife of forty-eight years is a son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. Ricky Brooks and his wife Edna of Greenville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deanna M. Brooks of Greenville and Terry L. Eye and her husband Greg of Dayton; four grandchildren, Brianna Brooks, Michael Brooks, Hannah Brooks and Ethan Eye; a special nephew, Lee Strickler and his wife Kathy; and numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Keith May, Mr. Bill Trice and Ms. Nancy Marler.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9:00 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
Active pallbearers will be Earl Desper, Brian Cason, Ernie Conner, Ernest Conner, Nathan Trice, Justin Flesher and Ralph Thompson.
