Oather Carl 'Bud' Puffenbarger, Sr.'s Obituary

Oather Carl Bud Puffenbarger, Sr., 68, of 146 Mish Barn Road, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 in Envoy of Staunton.

Mr. Puffenbarger was born January 12, 1943 in Augusta County, a son of the late Lee Frank and Tommi Irene (Losh) Puffenbarger.

Bud was employed with Phoenix Construction, Guy C. Eavers Excavating and Wilson Trucking before retiring. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed Bill Elliott as his favorite driver. Mr. Puffenbarger was known for this hard work ethic.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Puffenbarger was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Puffenbarger and a sister, Geraldine Flesher.

Survivors include three sons, Oather C. CarlPuffenbarger, Jr. and his wife Robin of Middlebrook, William Frank Billy Puffenbarger and Ernest Lee Buck Puffenbarger and his wife Kelli all of Churchville; the mother of his children, Nancy Staton of Churchville; a sister-in-law, Christine Puffenbarger of Staunton; a brother-in-law, Russell Flesher of Stuarts Draft; two step-daughters, Beverly Hott and Teresa Mawyers both of Staunton; a step-son, Danny Hott of Staunton; five grandchildren, Ashley Carroll, Jessica, Ashley, Clayton and Kelsi Puffenbarger; two great grandchildren, Katelyn Hodge and Dalton Ashley; a former wife, Betty (Simmons) Hott Puffenbarger and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Merle M. Dodson.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Russell Maddox, Joe Vaughan, Michael Puffenbarger, Clayton Puffenbarger, Monte Taylor, Gene Robbinette, Jeff Moyers, Colon Moyers and Earl Puffenbarger.

Honorary pallbearers will be Guy C. Eavers, Peggy Palmer, Jesse Lee Puffenbarger, Jake Jarvis, Raymond Jarvis and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., this evening (Wednesday, September 7, 2011) in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Robin Puffenbarger, 146 Mish Barn Road in Middlebrook.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
