Norman Lee "Doc" Strother, 78, husband of Virginia (Calloway) Strother of 502 D Street, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
Mr. Strother was born in Mt. Solon, Virginia on December 13, 1942, a son of the late Forrest and Carrie Louise (Bundy) Strother.
Mr. Strother was a member of the North River Baptist Church in Bridgewater and prior to retirement he was a chef at Ingleside. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved to cook.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Strother was preceded in death by a step-son, Kevin L. Bryant; two brothers, Donald Strother and Forrest L. Strother; and a sister, Shelby Brock.
Surviving in addition to his wife of forty years, are two daughters, Amanda L. Strother and her husband Kevin Huffer and Anita S. Gray and her husband Claude, all of Staunton; two step-sons, Michael E. Bryant of Staunton and Ulysses X. Bryant of Fishersville; two step-daughters, Felecia R. Bryant of Staunton and Melissa J. Brown of Arizona; an adopted son, Dionysus Strother and his wife Jennifer of Staunton; a sister, Shirley Strother of Mt. Solon; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a great great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that masks be worn to the service.
