Norma R. Sturms
STAUNTON:
Norma Leta (Ryder) Sturms, 73, our loving Mother went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 6, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Sturms was born February 22, 1939 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Aubrey W. Ryder and Mary F. (Mines) Dudley.
Norma was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and enjoyed Duke Basketball, the New York Yankees and the game of golf. She was a seamstress for over thirty-five years at Genesco-L-Grief.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sturms was preceded in death by a brother, C. Lanier Ford and a sister, Lucille Stephenson.
Survivors include a son, Michael Miller and his wife Julie of Waynesboro; a daughter, Lisa Gordon and her husband David of Staunton; brother, George J. Ryder and his wife Ruth of Staunton; a sister, Barbara A. Floyd and her husband Robert of Verona; sister-in-law, Glenna Ford of Staunton; five grandchildren, Adam Miller, Brittany Gordon, Cullen Miller, David Gordon, II and Crystal Cash; four great-grandchildren,
Heather Varner, Kelsey Cash, Michelle Cash and Alyssa Cash; a
number of nieces and nephews; special friends, George and Katherine Coffey also survive.
A Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro by Pastor Jeff Griffith.
Active pallbearers will be Timothy Floyd, David Gordon, George H. Coffey, Stephen Floyd, Bobby Floyd, Jr. and Adam Miller.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, 2011 at the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
We extend a special thank you to niece, Sandy Shifflet who gave special love and care to our Mother during her illness.
