Nora Lee (Benson) Darrah, 82, wife of Charles E. Darrah of 191 Humbert Road, Crimora passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Darrah was born on January 23, 1934 in Mint Spring, a daughter of the late Robert Hampton and Pearl Alena (Sorrells) Benson.
Nora Lee was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and was retired from the United States Postal Service as a Postmaster for sixteen years in Steeles Tavern. She enjoyed gardening as well as flowers and spending time and sharing her love with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Darrah was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Marlene Darrah and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Benson.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 60 years, are two sons, Robert Bucky Darrah and his wife Lisa of New Hope and Kent Eric Darrah and his wife Kim of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Stanley Benson and his wife Maxine of Spottswood and Robert Benson of Radford; four grandchildren, Lauren Darrah and her husband Casey Wyatt, Brooke Stadtfeld and her husband Ronnie, Jack Darrah and Georgie Darrah; one step-granddaughter, Ellie Graham; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will have a private memorial service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
