Nancy Faye (Lasher) Flynn, 63 of 666 Swallow Avenue, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and formerly of Craigsville went home to her Lord, on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 after a ten year battle with breast cancer. She was a dedicated wife, mother and servant of God.
Mrs. Flynn was born December 20, 1947 in Staunton, Virginia, the daughter of Frank L. and Mamie E. Lasher.
Nancy graduated from Buffalo Gap High School class of 1966. She furthered her education at James Madison University and received her teaching degree in 1970. She began teaching in Craigsville with the Augusta County School System and later taught in South Carolina. In latter years, she was a service coordinator for the disability/special needs board in Barnwell and Horry County, South Carolina from which she retired. Nancy also played the piano and helped direct music in various churches where her husband served as pastor over the years.
Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by an adopted son, Eric J. Flynn.
In addition to her parents of Craigsville, Nancy is survived by her husband of forty years, Roy Flynn of Myrtle Beach; two sons, Jason Flynn of Myrtle Beach and Lieutenant Jonathan Flynn, USN of Norfolk; a brother, Jeffrey R. Lasher of Swoope; two grandchildren, Aidan and Olivia Flynn; two nephews, Jeffrey D. Lasher and Joel N. Lasher; a niece, Kelsey E. Lasher also survives.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Craigsville by Rev. Ryan Schaeffer.
Interment will follow in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.
A viewing and visitation will be held in St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Craigsville on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
Active pallbearers will be William L. Wilcher, Matt Wilcher, Wayne Conner, Joel Lasher, Jeff Lasher and Jeffrey Dean Lasher.
Honorary pallbearers are Don McDonaldson, Rusty Boyers, Frank Cale and Andy Workman.
It is suggested that memorial contribution be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, Texas 75034.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
