Nancy Geraldine Scott Campbell, 84, of Mint Spring, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, July 11, 2020 at her daughter's home in Richmond, Virginia.
Born July 31, 1935, in Sugar Tree Hollow, Botetourt County, Virginia, she was the youngest child of the late Hollis and Lura Jane Wilhelm Scott. Nancy was a graduate of Eagle Rock High School and Phillips Business College. Following graduation, Nancy worked for Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. Later, after moving to the Staunton area with her family, she worked for the U.S. Social Security Administration and the Valley Community Services Board (VCSB). Nancy retired from the VCSB in 2004 after 28 years of service. She was a long-time member of Linden Heights Baptist Church and served there with her husband during his 24-year pastorate. Nancy cherished the friends she made throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, The Reverend Morris Edward (Jack) Campbell; three brothers, Everett, Marion (Ned), and Elwood Scott; and a son-in-law, Robert Vincent Jones. She was the last surviving sibling in her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha Scott (Scottie) Campbell of Fincastle, Virginia, Joanna Campbell Swanson of Durham, North Carolina, and Jane Elizabeth Campbell of Richmond, Virginia; two grandchildren, Joanna Jones and Kathryn Jones (Matt); five great-grandchildren; and a number of dearly-loved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Linden Heights Baptist Church, Staunton, by Pastor Luke Smith, and the Reverends David Anderson, John Patrick Campbell, and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald.
Burial will follow at the Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland, Virginia at 4:30 p.m.
The daughters wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to family and friends for their unwavering support of their mother over the years. The daughters also wish to express their deepest appreciation to Drs. H. Lynn Moore and William C. Berbes for their skilled and compassionate care of the entire family.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Linden Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 371 Linden Drive, Staunton, Virginia 24401, or to a charity of one's choice.
