Nancy Jane (Glidden) Bowman, 71, wife of Reginald Jay Bowman of Staunton, passed away November 9, 2014 at Augusta Health Center in Fishersville of natural causes.
Mrs. Bowman was born June 18, 1943 in Johnson County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ralph and Bessie Glidden.
Nancy graduated from Stinesville High School in 1961. She married Jay Bowman on April 28, 1962 at the Nazarene Church in Gosport, IN. In 1994, she retired from the National Security Agency. She resided in Linthicum, MD for 32 years; Cheltenham, England for three years and Staunton, VA since 1996. She loved reading, enjoyed gardening, making her house a home and caring for people. She always wanted to be sure no one ever went hungry, and in past years volunteered at the Valley Mission. Nancy took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her brothers; Larry Bruce, Gene, Dick, Don and Fred, and her sisters Sue Carol and Ramona Faye.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 52 years, is a son, Alan Jay Bowman and his wife Laure and their children Alena, Nate, and Audrey; a daughter, Nanette Vasconcells and her husband Ben and their children Nerissa and Nastasia; a sister, Linda Brobston and her husband Dave; a brother, Vernon Glidden and his wife Phyllis; a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of lifelong friends.
A Memorial service will be conducted from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014, in the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 200 School Lane, Linthicum Heights, Maryland.
