Myrtle May (Desper) Coiner, 98, widow of Elmer Warren Coiner, of 350 Frontier Drive, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, in Augusta Nursing \u0026 Rehabilitation Center, Fishersville.
Mrs. Coiner was born June 29, 1914 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Benjamin Howard and Cclina Frances (Bradley) Desper.
Myrtle was a lifetime member of Olivet Presbyterian Church since the age of four where for years she assisted with many church circles and served on other various committees. She enjoyed her family and they always came first in her life. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for the family business, Coiner Refrigeration and Appliances.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 60 years, Mrs. Coiner was preceded in death by a son Benjamin W. Coiner and a granddaughter Andrea Henson.
Survivors include a son Harold E. Coiner and wife Anna Marie of Staunton; a daughter Fay Ann (Coiner) Jennings and husband James Jr. of Madison Heights; a sister Artie Virginia (Desper) Weaver of Fishersville; a daughter-in-law Lisa (Wells) Coiner of Staunton; brother-in-law William Robert Leach, Jr. of Staunton; sister-in-law Vera Catherine (Kirby) Coiner of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren Darwin Coiner and wife Marinda, Julie (Coiner) Muse, Michael Coiner and wife Cheryl, Pamela Sue Watson, Christopher Jennings and wife Kristi, Jeffrey Jennings and wife Samantha, Neil Coiner and wife Jennifer and Aaron Coiner; a grandson in-law Jason Henson, sixteen great-grandchildren Savannah Muse, Emily Coiner, Jessica Coiner, Triston Coiner, Henley Coiner, Amber Smith, Casey Jennings, Joshua Jennings, Tara Jennings, Sean Jennings, Jackson Lee Jennings, Alexander Coiner, William Coiner, Zach Weaver, Dale Weaver and Jessica Ward; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Olivet Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lee Thomas.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Darwin Coiner, Mike Coiner, Chris Jennings, Jeff Jennings, Neal Coiner, Aaron Coiner, Ray Leach, Randy Leach, Russell Coiner, Richard Coiner, Stevie Hyden, Aaron Blessing and Philip Balsley.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her residence.
