Mitchael Modie Seaman's Obituary

Mitchael Modie Seaman, 91, took his last ride on his favorite horse "Trixie" as God gave her wings and they rode off to heaven on July 31, 2021.

Mr. Seaman was born at home in Montebello, Virginia on February 9, 1930, a son of the late Delbert Jonah and Hazel Irene (Bradley) Seaman.

Mitchael was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Montebello Fire Department. He loved the farm life and was happy dinning every day at home in "Louise's Restaurant" for she was the best cook he knew. His greatest joy was his family, riding, and working his horses even though he could not always express that. He was a farmer, his life was raising cattle, sheep, and his beloved horses. He taught his children how to ride, help him work on the farm, break the horses, and move stock from farm to farm. Mr. Seaman worked at cutting, skidding, and hauling timber for the late Richard Grant. He worked for the Nelson County School system where he was employed as a bus driver, he picked gooseberries for the Forestry Service and retired with thirty-six years of dedicated service to the National Park Service on the Blue Ridge Parkway. "Mitch" has now joined the crew he worked with for so many years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Seaman was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Losh) Seaman.

Mr. Seaman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

On November 17, 1951, he married Louise Elnora (Fitzgerald) Seaman, his wife of 69 years, 8 months, and 19 days. From their union, two daughters and a son were born, Bonnie Louise (Seaman) Nedrow and her husband Kenneth of Greenville, Barbara Lynn (Seaman) Brooks and her husband Richard of Steeles Tavern, David Mitchael Seaman of Stuarts Draft; four special grandsons, Brian Thomas Brooks, Bruce Lee Brooks and his wife Chelsea, Mason David Seaman, and Kyle Garrett Seaman; a very special great grandson, Jackson Lee Brooks; and ten step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Barbara and Richard Brooks, 39 Spottswood Road, Steeles Tavern.

A Celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors David Taylor, Fred Salmons, and Billy Coffey.

Burial will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Steeles Tavern.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
