Mildred Irene (Rodeffer) Hartman, 91, widow of Jesse William Hartman, Jr., formerly of New Hope, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Brookdale of Staunton.

Mrs. Hartman was born on January 17, 1931 in Rockingham County, Virginia, a daughter the late James Otis and Bertie (Young) Rodeffer.

Mildred was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and the New Hope Chorus.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, substitute teaching and various volunteering activities.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hartman was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Lewis; two brothers, Rudolph "Doc" Rodeffer and James Rodeffer; six sisters, Martha Wine, Ottye Rife, Madalyn Richcreek, Wilda Rexrode, Lena Margaret Miller and Shirley Cupp.

Mrs. Hartman was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters, Janice H. Bell and her husband Michael and Cathy Ann Lewis, both of Lexington; three grandchildren, Kevin Bell and his partner Ross Anderson, Lindsay Pleasant and her husband Chad, and Laura Crowder and her husband Zachary; three great-grandchildren, William and Asher Crowder and Lily Belle Pleasant and a special friend, Katherine Garber.

A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Michael Reaves.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Burial will be private.
