Mildred H. Jones

Mildred Frances (Hunter) Jones, 96, widow of Lacey E. Jones formerly of Staunton passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Avante of Waynesboro.
Mrs. Jones was born on June 25, 1916 in Middlebrook, a daughter of the late Emmanuel T. and Hattie B. (Johnson) Hunter.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was active on the Usher Board and attended Community Baptist Church as well and was a member of the Missionary Circle. She enjoyed flower gardening and embroidery. She was employed at Brooks Restaurant as a cook before her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, her twin sister and a grandson.
Mrs. Jones was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a son, Clarence E. Jones and wife Lorena of Verona; a daughter, Kathryn J. Brown and husband Curtis of Staunton; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Michael Turner.
Burial will be private in Bright Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Curtis Brown, 1533 Lee Jackson Hwy in Staunton.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, 415 North Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
