Michael “Mike” Alan Forry, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Staunton, VA, on September 12, 2026. Born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, to Robert “Bob” and Lucy Forry, Mike was a quiet, gentle force known to all for his humor, kind heart, and deep devotion to his family.
Life & Passions
Mike’s proudest accomplishment was raising his two children, Olivia (28) and Colton (26). His pride in them was quiet but undeniable, rooted in their thoughtfulness, integrity, sense of fun, intelligence, and love for family.
Music and the open road were central to Mike’s life. A guitarist since his teenage years, he built an impressive collection of 27 guitars and shared a lifelong love for rock music and legendary guitar heroes. He was happiest outdoors, whether he was out for a motorcycle ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains, foraging, or taking long car road trips out to camp in the American West.
Colton will always treasure their cross-country road trip from Virginia to California, full of national park camping, playful debates over whether to pitch a tent, grab a hotel, or sleep in the car, and a special visit with Aunt Loretha. Olivia will forever hold dear their annual summer road trips to Florida to see Nana and Pap, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as family vacations on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
At home, Mike loved playing video games with his kids, cheering spiritedly during football games, kicking back with a good B-movie or survivalist show, and taking peaceful walks through the park, past the train station, and into downtown Staunton.
Family
Mike is survived by his daughter, Olivia Forry (wife Jennifer); his son, Colton Forry; his parents, Bob and Lucy Forry; and his siblings, who always knew him as their “baby brother”: Loretha Fortier (husband Richard), Robb Forry (wife Dawn), and Melissa Wilcox (husband Larry).
He is also remembered by Jackie Busa, his former wife and the mother of his children, with whom he shared over two decades of family life; her parents and siblings, Eleanor, John, Joey, and Amy; his nephews, Robert and Paul Forry (and their wives and children); and his nieces, Nicole Crews (husband Jeremy) and May Wilcox. He is dearly missed by his loyal, loving 14-year-old Pitbull, Roy.

A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the home where his children were raised in Charlottesville, Virginia.
