Michael Dale Fitzgerald, Sr., 65, husband of Hope Fitzgerald of Staunton, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born in Augusta County, Virginia on December 22, 1956, a son of the late Carl Edward and Lillie Mae (Huffer) Fitzgerald.

Michael was retired from the Augusta County Service Authority with forty-five years of service.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, watching westerns and the game show network. Michael enjoyed hunting and being outdoors working on his trucks.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Hoy.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of thirty-four years, are his children, Brandy Carter (Billy) of Stuarts Draft, Lindsay Lowe (Michael) of Fishersville, and Dale Fitzgerald of Staunton; two brothers, Curtis Fitzgerald (Cathi) of Lyons, Kansas and Steve Fitzgerald (Karin) of Middlebrook; a sister, Kathy Robertson (Doug) of Staunton; five grandchildren, Taylor Shover (Kolby), Collin Fitzgerald, Maddie Fitzgerald, Bailee Fitzgerald, and Kobee Lowe; a great-grandchild, Lanie Shover; several nieces, nephews, and many friends from the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
