Merlyn Abraham Red Hoover, II, 58, of 253 Maine Circle passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Hoover was born in Staunton on March 17, 1954, a son of Merlyn Abraham Hoover and the late Mildred (Gilbert) Hoover.

Red worked in many areas of construction. He loved playing baseball, liked to water ski, to hunt and Red and his champion partner, Lori Ann excelled pitching cornhole.

Surviving in addition to his father is a daughter, Keisha Sprouse and Dennis of Waynesboro; three sisters, Blenda H. Schultz and Charlie of Weyers Cave, Kathy H. Miller and Ron of Stuarts Draft and Judy H. Kivett and Rusty of Grottoes; a brother, Dennis C. Hoover and Mark Campbell of Moneta; four grandchildren, Kaleb, Josiah, Angel and Isaiah Schmidt of Waynesboro; and a dear friend, Rodney Kershner of Fishersville.

A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. Durwood Cowan.

The family will receive friends before the service from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Judy and Rusty Kivett, 294 Harriston Road, Grottoes.
