Melvin Leroy PawPaw Berry, Sr., 62, husband of Sue Berry of 300 National Avenue passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 in Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Berry was born August 28, 1949 in Staunton, a son of the late George Cain and Thelma Clayton (Shifflett) Berry.
Melvin was a furniture builder with Stanley furniture for twenty-five years and he attended the local Church of God. Melvin was a loving PawPaw.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-eight years is a son, Melvin L. Berry, Jr. and his wife Lisa and a daughter, Becky Sue Nutty and her husband Mykel of Staunton; four brothers, two sisters and nine grandchildren also survive.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastors Phillip Morgan and Merle Dodson.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the Southside Church of God.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
