McKayla Addison Chapman, 14, of Briarwood Two in Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at her residence.

McKayla was born in Fishersville, Virginia on September 23, 2009, a daughter of Angela Carol Spangler.

McKayla was a student at Wilson Memorial High School and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. In her spare time, McKayla enjoyed drawing, traveling, watching YouTube videos, and "The Embrace Family".

McKayla was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Jerry Wayne Spangler and Carolyn Sue Spangler; maternal grandfather, Barry Gearhart; and her pet dogs, "Sassy" and "Angel".

Surviving, are her shared mothers, Angela C. Spangler and Sherry M. Spangler; her adopted father, Jeffrey Cook; two brothers, Grayson and Brentley Johnson; five sisters, Kenzie, Kirsten, Miley and Kiley Chapman, and Isabella Spangler; paternal grandmother, Holly Perry; three aunts, Auntie Ashley Gearhart, Miranda Perry, and Porsha Gearhart; three uncles, Isaac Gearhart and Johnathan Dudley and his wife, Kaeli and Dwayne; cousins, Mason, Aiyden, Sha'miyah, Breighlyn, Jaelyn, and Damieon Gearhart; special pets, kitty-kitty, "Gingy", and puppy, "Rooshie".

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend Jenelle Watson.

The family will receive friends following the service.
