Maurice Wilmer Mo Smith, 87, husband of Mae Odell (McCrory) Smith, formerly of Arbor Hill Road, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Brightview Baldwin Park.
Mr. Smith was born on June 16, 1928 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John William and Icy Adie (Link) Smith.
Maurice was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and retired in 1991 after thirty-nine years of employment with Westinghouse/McQuay. Mr. Smith was a member of the Gypsy Hill Seniors Golf Club and he enjoyed farming, gardening and playing golf with his many golfing friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, John E. Smith, William Cecil Smith and Lacey Dick Ledford Smith; and a sister, Lillian Peg Hanley
Mr. Smith was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-five years, are three daughters, Gloria Landes and her husband Donald and Shelby Myers both of Staunton and Donna Lihos and her husband Tim of Verona; six grandchildren, Mary Craig and husband Shane, Michael Landes, Christy Robson and husband Doug, Carrie Gill and husband Michael, Taulsa Cook and wife Heidi and Camalee Lihos; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Robson, Mitchell Craig, Cullan Overbey, Peyton Gill, Nathan Landes, Jacob Craig, Destiny Craig and Thieron Cook; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Shearer.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Landes, Shane Craig, Doug Robson, Michael Gill, Taulsa Cook and Tim Lihos.
