Maureen Catherine (O'Regan) Smith, 79, widow of Kay Dennis Smith, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mrs. Smith was born in Glen Cove, New York on April 3, 1945, a daughter of the late Kathleen (Young) O'Regan and Dennis O'Regan.

Maureen was a registered nurse and retired from Rockville General Hospital in Connecticut. She was also the mother of four, a Girl Scout leader, an avid crocheter and quilter, and a foster parent. She attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro.

Surviving, is a son, Carroll Matthew Smith of Connecticut; three daughters, Rebecca Smith-Allen and her husband, David Allen of New Hampshire, Beth-Ann (Smith) Collett of Connecticut, and Caroline (Smith) Cooke and her husband, Jon of Connecticut; and four grandchildren, William Allen, Lexington Allen, Carys Collett, and Samuel Cooke.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, Maureen would appreciate donations to one of her favorite charities, the Berea Food Bank (108 Parkway Ave., Berea, KY 40403), FINCA (1201 15th Street, NW 8th Floor Washington, DC 20005), the National Wildlife Federation (P.O. Box 1583, Merrifield VA 22116-1583), or Friends of the Blue Ridge (P.O. Box 20986, Roanoke, VA 24018).

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
