Mary Alma (Monroe) Wilkins, 90, widow of Lawrence D. Wilkins of 21 Shortys Place, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Wilkins was born January 1, 1921 in Vesuvius, Virginia, a daughter of the late Clarence A. and Mattie (Painter) Monroe.
Alma was a Charter member of the Fishersville Baptist Church and was a wonderful mother and homemaker.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by a son, J. Michael Wilkins, a daughter-in-law, Shirley L. Wilkins, a brother, Thurman Monroe and three sisters, Eugenia Coffey, June Henderson and Louise Brittain and two grandchildren, Julie E. Suggs and David F. Wilkins.
Alma is survived by a son, Clarence D. Wilkins of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Tamara F. Wilkins of Charlottesville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Wade) Wilkins of Fishersville; a brother, David Cash and his wife Jean of Fishersville; a sister, Thelma Brittain of Wamic, OR; a brother-in-law, A. Thomas Coffey of Fishersville; two grandchildren, Penny D. Sager and Tony L. Wilkins both of Fishersville; four great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 in the Fishersville Baptist Church by Pastor Steve Parker and Pastor John Hamric.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers are Buck Brown, Chris Peery, Steve Henderson, Dave Cash, Tony Wilkins and Steve Cash.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Kline, Tim Morris, Jake Coffey, Shannon Combs, J.D. Carroll, Jamie Staples and Denny Henderson.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
