Mary Lee (Thomas) Landes, 89, of 1707 First Street, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Avante at Waynesboro.

Mrs. Landes was born on August 13, 1928 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Hugh Sr. and Virgie (Hanger) Thomas.

Mary Lee retired from DuPont in 1977 with over 30 years of service as an operator, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, needlework, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Landes was preceded in death by a son, Gary Thomas Landes; three brothers, Hugh Thomas, Jr., James Thomas, and Ray Thomas and a special friend, Marvin Bosserman.

Surviving is a son, Donald L. Landes and his wife Gloria of Staunton; a brother, Jay Thomas and his wife Webb of Fishersville; a daughter in-law, Sandra Landes of Staunton; four grandchildren, Michael Landes and his wife Doreen, Neil Landes, Sara Landes, and Mary Craig and her husband Shane; and six great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Cullan, Nathan, Mitchell, Jacob, and Destiny.

A Graveside Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 in Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Golden Clark.

Active pallbearers will be her son, Donald L. Landes; her grandsons and great-grandsons, Michael Landes, Jacob Craig, Mitchell Craig, Cullan Overbey, and Nathan Landes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Landes and Shane Craig.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
