Mary Geneva Mader's Obituary

Mary Geneva (Jarvis) Mader, 83, widow of John Glenn Mader, Sr. formerly of Mader Lane passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Mader was born on October 7, 1931, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late John Jacob and Viola (Sensabaugh) Jarvis.

Geneva was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker, enjoyed baking and taking care of her family.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mader was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Jarvis; two sisters, Stella Jarvis and Elizabeth Grimm and two grandchildren, Savanna Skye Jarvis and Justin Blake Snead.

Mrs. Mader is survived by two sons, Jerry L. Jarvis and wife Pattie of Middlebrook and John G. Mader, Jr. and wife Vicki of Staunton; a daughter, Penny M. Hanger and husband Neil C. of Staunton; four brothers, John Jacob Jarvis, Jr. and Raymond William Jarvis of Middlebrook, Jacob Charles Jarvis of Staunton, and Wayne Nelson Jarvis of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Frances Oliver of Fishersville and Geraldine Tunnerman of Staunton; five grandchildren, Bryan Matthew Jarvis (Dawn), Kevin Scott Jarvis (Safiya), Lessley Brooke Mader (Myriam), Ashlee V. Sragovitz (Ben), and Aaron Scott VanFossen; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Bryant and Tristan Blake Jarvis, Cyrus Jeffrey Jarvis, Samuel Alexander Jarvis, Kate Ella Jarvis and Taylor Brooke Sragovitz also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Neil Hanger, 99 Blair Hill Lane in Staunton.

A Celebration of life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2014, in the Hebron Presbyterian Church by Pastor Frank Wyche.

Burial will follow in the Hebron Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Mader, Fred Smiley, Jim Smiley, Jack Bodkin, Kenny Sandridge and Glenn Mader.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Shomo, Charles Buchanan, Dr. H. Lynn Moore, Teddy Mader and Don Hanger.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, 1445 East Rio Road Suite 104, Charlottesville, VA 22901 or Alzheimers Association, 1160 Pepsi Place Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

The family would like to offer a special Thank You to the staff of Emeritus of Staunton and Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
