Mary Elizabeth 'Libby' Bosserman's Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (Moyer) Libby Bosserman, 83, widow of Harold Dennis Bosserman, formerly of Cattle Scales Road, Waynesboro, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law with whom she had made her home.
Mrs. Bosserman was born on August 10, 1926 in Stoneville, NC a daughter of the late George Dennis and Ina Mary (Bayless) Moyer.
When Harold returned from WWII, he and Libby married June 28, 1945, and shared 61 years together.
She was employed by McClure Printing Company and Schmids Printery as a printer, and retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after 15 years of service.
Libby was an active and faithful member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on various Committees. She was a member of the Sally Carroll Circle, the Bennie Webb/Winmore Bible Class, the American Ex POW Bob Frakes Shenandoah Valley Chapter and a graduate of Beverley Manor High School Class of 1943. Libby was known for her green thumb when it came to gardening. She was an excellent homemaker, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Libby was preceded in death by two brothers, George Burney Moyer and James Marvin Moyer; three brothers-in-law, Farrold Kenneth Bosserman, Earl Walker Bosserman and his wife Lora and Basil Lee Bosserman; a great-grandson, Haden Alexander Wills, a special nephew, Earl W. Buddy Bosserman, Jr., a sister-in-law, Virginia McNeil Moyer and Libbys in-laws, Alvin Dennis and Jennie Lee Bosserman.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Vrla Ryan (Bosserman) Leach and her husband Fred P. and Loretta Elizabeth Rette (Bosserman) Cline and her husband David L. all of Staunton; two brothers, William Warren Moyer of Martinsville and Rev. Herbert Abe Moyer and his wife Winifred of Gastonia, NC; four sisters-in-law Sylvia H. Bosserman of Waynesboro, Lorraine Jewell Bosserman of Staunton, Marjorie Christine Mahanes and her husband David L. II of Charlottesville, Judith Marie Hostetter of Waynesboro; a brother-in-law, Gary Davis Bosserman of Staunton; three grandchildren, Tracy Leigh Wills and her husband Johnny of Wise, Ashley Stuart Leach and his wife Stephanie of Staunton and Andrew Pence Leach and his friend Tara King of Craddockville; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Paige Leach, John Steven Wills and Samuel Haden Wills; a special niece Ruth Kay Smith of Churchville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also surviving are long-term care givers and special friends, Clara Mae Sheffey and her husband Melvin of Staunton and a special little buddy, kitty Oakley.
A Celebration of Libbys life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. C. Douglas Akers. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and David Cline, 463 Albemarle Ave., Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Ashley Leach, Andrew Leach, Johnny Wills, Homer Blackwell, Kenneth Leach, Lelon Moyer and Mark Garland.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bennie Webb/Winmore Bible Classes.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Libbys most recent caregivers, Esquewie and Melanie Jones, Joyce Landram, Beverley Whited, Amanda Coyner, Glenna Jones and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the care given to their mother during her time of illness.
