Mary Gatha (Gum) Galford, 81 of Staunton passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Ms. Galford was born October 9, 1928 in Dunmore, West Virginia a daughter of the late Wardell Clark and Anna Mary (Ray) Gum.
She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church and was co-owner and operator of Galford Grocery in Monterey for twenty years. Ms. Galford was a loving mother, homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and crocheting.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Ray Gum and Chad W. Gum. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen C. Galford and his wife Lyn of Maryland and Eldon G. Galford, Jr. and his wife Renie of Craigsville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon A. Puffenbarger and her husband Roy W. of Staunton and Patricia S. Trish Galford of Staunton; two granddaughters, Dianna L. Clemmer and Jennifer Swierczynski; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Joseph C. Brandon.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
