Virginia T. Dull

Mary Virginia Jenny (Thomas) Dull, 89, widow of Wallace Raymond Dull, formerly of Sunset Blvd. passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at Birch Gardens in Fishersville.
Mrs. Dull was born on July 28, 1923 in Hot Springs, a daughter of the late Aaron Smith and Minnie L. (Broce) Thomas.
Mrs. Dull was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, the Adult Sunday School Class, and the Tuesday Crowd. She retired on August 31, 1988 from Western State Hospital where she was employed as a Dietitian, was a life member of the Women of the Moose, and played girls basketball at Valley High School in Hot Springs. Jenny enjoyed traveling, was a fan of UVA basketball, Virginia Tech football, and the Baltimore Orioles. She was known for her loving care and support to her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their endeavors.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dull was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Lee Dull; three brothers, Mason C. Thomas, Marvin Thomas, and Leonard A. Thomas; and three sisters, Lorena E. (Thomas) Gwin, Lora E. (Thomas) Hughes, and Maud Thomas.
Mrs. Dull was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois D. Ocheltree and her husband, Dr. John L. Jr., of Churchville and Donna D. Houff and her husband, Randall G., of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Sherri B. Paxton, Beth B. Hypes and her husband, Jay, Mary B. Davis and her husband, Mike, Amanda B. Houff, and Bo Bradley and his wife, Michelle; eight great-grandchildren, Elsie A. Ritchie, Caroline W. Ritchie, Virginia Grace Ritchie, Ethan W. Pratt, Cana M. Davis, Peyton M. Davis, Avery E. Bradley, and Cade H. Bradley; two step-grandchildren, Andrew Ocheltree and Kathleen Jeremiah; five step-great-grandchildren, Camille Ocheltree, Michaila Ocheltree, Mabel Jeremiah, Bailey Hypes and Aubrey Hypes; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances D. Burns; a nephew, Sam Burns, Jr.; a niece, Joyce G. Watts; and a special friend, Ruby Higgins.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Third Presbyterian Church by Pastor Jack B. Wilkers.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the homes of her daughters and sons-in-law.
Active pallbearers will be Dr. John L. Ocheltree, Jr., Randall G. Houff, Bo Bradley, Jay Hypes, Mike Davis, Charles Buddy Varner, Jr., Johnny Varner, and Sam Burns, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary and Thelma Pultz, Dawn Jordan, Wanda Edwards, Bonnie Rudd, Doug and Mary Cox, Dave and Loretta Cline, Randy and Ann Gregory, Jim and Elaine Almarode, and friends attending the service.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Kerry Alexander, the staff of Birch Gardens, and Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their care and kindness shown to their Mother during her illness.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
