Marjorie Ann (Whitesell) Chittum, 93, wife of Earl Wallace Chittum, of Hickory Hill Road in Fishersville, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 in Regency at Augusta in Fishersville.

Mrs. Chittum was born on March 15, 1929 in Brownsburg, Virginia, a daughter of the late Miley Layton Whitesell and Margaret (Dudley) Whitesell McNutt.

Mrs. Chittum was retired from the City of Staunton schools where she taught first grade at Northside Elementary currently known as McSwain. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family, especially enjoying her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chittum was preceded in death by a brother, John Layton Whitesell and her step-father, Hugh McNutt.

Surviving in addition to her husband of seventy-five years, is a son, Earl Douglas "Doug" Chittum of Roanoke; a daughter, Tamara Ann "Tammy" Warren and her husband Ronald of Henderson, NC; one granddaughter, Ashley McDaniel and husband Ray; two great grandchildren, Kassidy Dickerson and Nathan McDaniel; special friends, Linda Beiler and husband Allen, Mary Ellen Hershberger and husband Jesse and friends in the Mennonite Community.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
