Marilyn Marie (Monroe) Mejia, 72, widow of Dana L. "J.D." Mejia of Fishersville passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.

Mrs. Mejia was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on January 29, 1952, a daughter of the late Thurman Gilbert and Gladys (Claytor) Monroe.

Marilyn was a member of Fishersville Community Church, and was retired from E.I. DuPont in 2007 as a machine operator. She enjoyed playing slot machines, watching NASCAR, baseball, and eating chocolate cake from Brother's Pizza.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Monroe; and two sisters, Sandra Arnette and Alice Holmes.

Surviving is a son, Shannon Combs and his wife, Susan of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Shayla Branch and her husband, Keith of Stuarts Draft; three step-sons, Jesse Mejia, Adam Mejia and Randy Mejia; two grandchildren, Dakota and Kyle Branch; twelve step-grandchildren; a cousin and best friend, Barbara Mayo; and her fur babies, "Waffle" and "Pancake."

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Chris Smith.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Shannon Combs, Keith Branch, Dakota Branch, Kyle Branch, Gregg Vaught, and Sammy Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie and Adam Mejia.

The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Marilyn's caregiver, Cassie Sorrells.
