Obituary

Margaret Virginia (Guyer) Smith, 93, widow of Robert Scott "Bob" Smith, of Fishersville, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.

Mrs. Smith was born in Staunton, Virginia on May 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Dewey Lee Guyer and Esther (Smith) Guyer Midkiff.

Margaret was a devoted member of Mountain View Church of Christ and retired from Genesco after 44 years as a dispatcher. She enjoyed visiting the beach, reading, and going out to eat. She was known for her generosity and selflessness, always eager to lend a helping hand to others. Above all, Margaret treasured her family, and her close bond with them was central to her life. She found immense happiness in being actively involved in their lives and sharing in their milestones.

In addition to her parents and husband of sixty-one years, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Coy W. Guyer and Wallace L. Guyer.

Surviving, is a son, Robert W. "Bobby" Smith and his wife, Terri of Fishersville; two grandchildren, Brian Bosserman and his wife, Jennifer and Matt Bosserman and his wife, Heather; five great-grandchildren, Elina, Katelyn, Irelyn, Corey, and Everly; two sisters, Lillian Mae (Guyer) Frank of Waynesboro and Patsy (Guyer) Halterman of Staunton; and her special cat, "Kitty Baby".

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Cline.

Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Dale Rankin, Doug Rankin, Matt Bosserman, Danny Smith, Linus Cash and Coley Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Bosserman, William Rankin and members of Mountain View Church of Christ.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

The family would like to express a sincere "Thank you" to Dr. Chernoff and the staff at the Shenandoah Hospice House for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Mrs. Smith.
