Ortiz
August 20, 1946 – December 17, 2024
Maggie Elizabeth Ortiz, 78, wife of Santiago Ortiz, Sr., of Verona, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Ortiz was born on August 20, 1946, in Staunton, a daughter of the late George Baten and Louise Agnes (Woods) Johnson.
Maggie retired in 2016 from Precision Fabricators/Draftco, after forty years of service. She loved her work and coworkers and was genuinely kind to all she met. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Glenn Fitzgerald; a grandson, Aaron Thomas Keplinger; a brother, George Johnson; and a sister, Nellie Hays.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of forty years are her children, Denise Smith and her husband, Randy, Penny Keplinger and her husband, Kevin, Santiago Ortiz, Jr. and his wife, Vickie, Izzy Ortiz and his wife, Nannette, Maria Ortiz and her husband, John, and Frutoso Ortiz and his wife, Mary Ellen; grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Kelsey Mashinski, Jacob Keplinger, Jasmine Keplinger, Taralissa Jones, Isaac Ortiz, Rebecca Kreuter, Christina Rossell, Juliana Gustafson, Megan Ortiz, and April Fitzgerald; nine great-grandchildren; and her special canine companion, "Daisy".
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Greg Mayo.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Kevin Keplinger, R. B. Glover, Brandon Clark, Santiago Ortiz, Jr., Izzy Ortiz, Steven Mashinski, and Bobby Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Maggie's memory to Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Joey Mooneyham and staff of Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving and graceful care of our mom and wife.
