Lynwood Howard Burnett, 80, husband of Connie Jo (Miller) Burnett of Fishersville, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Burnett was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on September 19, 1944, a son of the late Melvin Burnett and Frances (Fulwider) Burnett.
Lynwood proudly served in the United States Army and later retired from Carter Machinery, where he worked as a dedicated salesman. He was a passionate supporter of youth education in hunting and firearm safety, serving as a member of the Augusta County Hunters Educational Challenge Team and as a certified Hunter Education Instructor. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Burnett found great joy in nature and was also a skilled woodworker.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Wayne Burnett.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 48 years, is a son, Michael W. Burnett and his fiancé, Sarah Nutty of Fishersville; a daughter, Jaime Lyn Kelso and her husband, Logan of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Grace Burnett, Presley Kelso, Van Kelso, and Whitley Kelso; two sisters, Norma Jean (Burnett) Botkin and Gail (Burnett) Showalter and her husband, Jimmy, all of Staunton; his best friend, Hershey Harlow; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Andy Shiflett.
The family will receive friends following the service.
