Lydia Jane (Simmons) Berry, 75, widow of Bobbie Lee Berry, of Quicks Mill Road in Staunton, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

Mrs. Berry was born on September 7, 1947 in Churchville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Virgil and Gertrude Catherine (Puffenbarger) Simmons.

Mrs. Berry was a member of the Mt. Solon Pentecostal Church and attended the Middlebrook Church of God.  Lydia was a member of the Pleasant View-Spring Hill Ruritan Club. Mrs. Berry enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, cooking, flower gardening, and especially quilting.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Cline and her husband Lewis of Weyers Cave and Sarah Lee Berry and her fiancé Eric Rice of Seattle, Washington; one granddaughter, Athena Rice; two brothers, Everett Boyd Simmons of Crimora and William Virgil Simmons of Staunton.

A Celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the Middlebrook Church of God by Pastor Larry Strickler and Pastor Charles David Clinedinst.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the burial in the church Fellowship Hall.

Active pallbearers will be Blake Simmons, Peyton Simmons, Wyatt Simmons, Caleb Roadcap, Malachi Simmons, Larry Kelley, Ted Barlow and Bobby Clinedinst.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852.

Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
