Lucille Virginia (Coyner) Phillippe, 89, wife of Paul R. Phillippe, Sr. formerly of Shutterlee Mill Road went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Salem Terrace at Harrogate in Salem, Virginia.
Mrs. Phillippe was born in Augusta County on January 11, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Coyner.
Lucille lived her entire life in Augusta County until last fall when she and her husband moved into a retirement home in Salem, VA to be near their children. She graduated from Beverly Manor High School and Dunsmore Business College. First and foremost, she was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, but over the years she also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was an active member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church and more recently, Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Lucille was a life member of the Presbyterian Womens Group, elder at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, Sunday school teacher and a Circle Bible study teacher. She liked to knit, crochet and quilt.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Phillippe was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Harris and Lillian Pinkham; a brother, Joe Coyner and a grandson, Andrew N. Garnett.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 66 years are two sons, Paul R. Phillippe, Jr. and wife Ginnie of Fincastle and David M. Phillippe and wife Rose of Bedford; two daughters, Bonnie P. Garnett and husband Cal of Helen, GA and Betty P. Reynolds and husband Jim of Vinton; a sister, Mary (Coyner) Patterson of Staunton; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; also surviving is a sister-in-law, Becky Coyner of Chattanooga, TN and a brother-in-law, Wilmer Phillippe of Staunton.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bill Harris and Rev. Charles A. McFarlin.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton.
A private burial will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to the Compassion Committee at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, 4141 Spring Hill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
