Henry Frederick Freddie Wilhelm, Sr., 74, of 215 George Street passed away, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Wilhelm was born September 25, 1939 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Henry Alton and Beatrice (Knick) Wilhelm.
Henry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the US Air Force. Following his retirement from the military he was employed with the Kansas Highway Department where he had worked in the maintenance department.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilhelm was preceded in death by a son, Henry F. Wilhelm, Jr.
Surviving are four sons, Johnny A. Wilhelm and Carl E. Wilhelm both of Summer Hill , PA, Kevin M. Wilhelm of Walton, KS and Kerrick M. Wilhelm and wife Tara of Staunton; a daughter, Diane Taylor and husband Mark of Portage, PA; a half-daughter, Kristin Zarybnicky and husband Michael of NE; a brother, Carl P. Wilhelm and wife Barbara and a sister, Brenda Wilhelm all of Lexington; thirteen grandchildren and a great-grandchild also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens by Pastor Bobby Campbell.
It is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
