Lowell Daughn Harold, 63, husband of Brenda Gayle (Waybright) Harold of 35 Bird Haven Lane passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Harold was born November 5, 1948 in Deerfield, VA, son of the late Lertie Floyd and Evelyn (Hodge) Harold.

Mr. Harold was a member of the Staunton Church of the Nazarene where he served as a trustee. He was a 1967 graduate of Buffalo High School, received a degree in Biology from James Madison College and received a Masters Degree in Education from UVA. His teaching career began in 1971 at North River Elementary School, then to S. Gordon Stuart Middle School, Assistant Principal at Beverley Manor Elementary School, Assistant Principal Stuart Draft Middle School, Principal at New Hope Elementary School and then before retiring in 2001 he was the Assistant Principal at High Cassell Elementary School. He had served as solo coordinator on the Board of Augusta Retired Educators. Mr. Harold enjoyed volunteering his time in the library at Hugh Cassell Elementary School, gardening, NASCAR, UVA football, was an avid Redskin fan and was very loyal to the Staunton Braves Baseball team.

Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-one years are two daughters, Jennifer H. McGowan and her husband Mark of Stafford and Nicole E. Harold of Roanoke; five grandchildren, A.J. McGowan, Sarah McGowan, Hannah McGowan, Jase McGowan and Jackson Harold also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the Staunton Church of the Nazarene by Pastor David Bailey.

Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Bryant, Edward Smith, Wayne Fitzgerald, Tom Thalheim, Kenneth Carpenter, Jim Rankin, Randy Mawyer and Richard Corbin.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.

It is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Staunton Church of the Nazarene, 1307 W. Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
