Lovell Maxwell Painter's Obituary

Lovell Maxwell Painter, 75, widower of Mary (Ramsey) Painter of 19 Farmside Street passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Painter was born in Raphine, Virginia on February 24, 1937 a son of the late John Lovell Painter, Sr. and Edith Maggie (Lawhorn) Painter.

Mr. Painter was a retired furniture builder for Basic-Witz and attended Faith Worship Center. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid Washington Redskin Fan and a St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Painter was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Kennan Lawhorn and a sister, Darlene Ann VanAllen.

Survivors are his fiance and best friend, Marlene Phillips; two brothers, Jimmy M. Painter of Waynesboro and John L. Painter, Jr. of Raphine; a sister, Linda P. Downs of VanCleave, MS; an aunt, Mrs Phyllis Ramsey of Stuarts Draft and a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern by Pastor Dennis L. Bradley, Sr.

The family will receive friends prior to and following the service at the home of Kenny and Sherri Rowe of 516 Lofton Road, Raphine.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
