(Fitzgerald) Seaman
May 8, 1934 – October 19, 2023
Louise Elnora (Fitzgerald) Seaman, 89, widow of Mitchael Modie Seaman, formerly of Montebello, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Green Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility.
Mrs. Seaman was born in Montebello, Virginia on May 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Russell Coleman Fitzgerald and Geneva (Snead) Fitzgerald.
As a child, Louise attended a one room schoolhouse, which she walked to each day. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, and previously worked as a cook at Montebello Camping and Fishing and later Whetstone Ridge Restaurant. In addition to cooking, "Mama" enjoyed gardening and canning.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband of 69 years, Mrs. Seaman was preceded in death by brother, Russell Thurman Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Losh) Seaman; and son-in-law, Kenneth Nedrow.
Surviving, is a son, David Mitchael Seaman of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Bonnie Louise (Seaman) Nedrow of Greenville and Barbara Lynn (Seaman) Brooks and her husband, Richard of Steeles Tavern; four grandchildren, Brian Thomas Brooks, Bruce Lee Brooks and his wife, Chelsea, Mason David Seaman and his wife, Marina, and Kyle Garrett Seaman; a great-grandson, Jackson Lee Brooks; five step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; and her pet dog, "Buddy".
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Fred Salmons and Billy Coffey.
Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Lunsford, Ricky Bryant, Douglas Bryant, Steven Bryant, Carl Coffey, David Tyree, Bill Walker, and Frank Dull.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Lamb, Lenny Phillips, and Colby Sheets.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
