Loretta Jane Butler's Obituary

Loretta Jane Butler, 85, widow of Nathan Waldo Butler, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, November 11, 2021, surrounded by her family, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Butler was born on September 15, 1936 in Garten, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harmon and Geneva Peters.

Loretta grew up in Rupert, Rainelle and Richwood, West Virginia. She graduated from Richwood High School as an honor student. While in high school, at the age of 13, she met Nathan Butler, 16. At the time she did not know it, but he would be the man she would spend the rest of her life with. Three years later, at the age of 16, while in high school and with her parents' permission, Loretta married Nathan on Christmas Eve 1952. They would begin their journey together on the other side of the United States in Anchorage, Alaska, where Nathan had been stationed after enlisting into the Air Force. Loretta and Nathan spent the next 68 years building a life and raising a family together, until his passing in November of 2020. Loretta was a very detail oriented store manager. She retired from A\u0026P/ Superfresh Grocery Store as a manager in 1994. Loretta lived out the rest of her days with her husband in a house they built together in Greenville, Virginia. Loretta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who always put her family first. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by the love of her life, Nathan Butler; a brother, Jimmy Peters; a sister, Barbara Anne Hill and a great granddaughter "rla Beatrice Fox.

Loretta is survived by her three children; Dave Butler of Greenville, Bill Butler and his wife Linda of Greenville, and Debbie Gordon of Waynesboro; twelve grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, Staunton.

A private Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons Chuck Butler, Jamie Butler, Kenny Butler, Chris Butler, Ryan Landes, Gabe Butler, and Eli Butler.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Augusta Health Respiratory Care Unit staff for their hard work and support during this difficult time.
