Lona W. Bogan
STAUNTON:
Mrs. Lona Mae (Wimer) Bogan, 82, widow of Sammy Herman Bogan of 1842 Springhill Road passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Bogan was born in Rockingham County on June 23, 1930, a daughter of the late Alfred Oran and Lillie (Lambert) Wimer.
Mrs. Bogan was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church where she had served as trustee, circle chairman and President of the Women of the Church, was one of the first school crossing guards for the city of Staunton at Bessie Weller Elementary and had retired from Mary Kay and Avon where she sold beauty products. Mrs. Bogan was excellent in direct sales, achieved many goals, recruited many consultants under her direct supervision while with Mary Kay Cosmetics and promoted good skin care.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bogan was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Wimer) Salt and three brothers, Kerlin Botton, Walter J. and Wilson W. Wimer.
On May 14, 1949, Mrs. Bogan married her husband of sixty-three years, Mr. Sammy Herman Bogan. They have two daughters, Darlene J. Thomas and her husband Clyde W. and Donna J. Ham and her husband Robert B.; a grandson, Benjamin Samuel Ham and his wife Krista all of Staunton and a brother, Denson A. Wimer and his wife Winona of Mt. Crawford.
A double graveside service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Jack B. Wilkers.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the Third Presbyterian Church, 1313 Barterbrook Road, Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Guyer, Gary Hinkle, Lee Kidd, Earl Hank Bragg, Stephen Hinton and Don Wagner.
Darlene and Donna thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ER, ICU, CCU and third floor of Augusta Health for the comfort and care provided for their mother.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
