Lois Delilah Guerrieri's Obituary

Lois Delilah (Smith) Guerrieri, 94, of 95 Haytie Lane, passed away Saturday afternoon, (September 12, 2009) at her residence.
Mrs. Guerrieri was born March 12, 1915 in Hendersonville, NC a daughter of the late James Blaine and Nora Etta (Simpson) Smith.
How does one condense a universe into a thimble?
A true artist in every sense, threading beauty into anything she touched. In 1947, Mom had made a dress for the Princess Elizabeth as a wedding gift. In return, she was invited to attend the Royal wedding. The Washington Post sponsored her way, asking that she cover the wedding as their journalist. That she did, and her coverage was heralded as the perfect story of 1947. Her scrapbook is treasured by her children as a tribute to her remarkable abilities as a seamstress and artista person able to adapt to change and challenge.
Her children and grandchildren attest to Mrs. Guerrieris natural healing touch, as she cared for her family and less fortunate neighborhood children. She was there for anyone who needed her help and positive influence. She infused beauty into life and by her example, showed others hoe to admire and respect Gods creation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Richard Guerrieri in 1974; four brothers, Earl, David, Clifton, and Leonard Smith.
Surviving is a son, Richard P. Guerrieri of Staunton; three daughters, Carmella L. Joseph of Staunton, Lois Marie Guerrieri and Mary Ann Guerrieri both of Middlebrook; five grandchildren, Robert J. Faraoni, Kenneth M. Faraoni, David E. Joseph, Jennifer A. Joseph and Aaron P. Guerrieri; five great-grandchildren also survive.
In keeping with Mrs. Guerrieris wishes her services will be private.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of her arrangements.
