Linda May (Hirst) Cannady, 68, wife of Ralph E. Cannady of 195 Orchard Road, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Cannady was born on June 25, 1946 in Tacoma Park, MD, a daughter of the late Joseph Walter and Jane Ellen (Desper) Hirst.
Linda was a member of the Jehovahs Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall on Springhill Road in Staunton. She retired in 1987 from Mary Baldwin College as a secretary and she enjoyed attending the Staunton Senior Center. Mrs. Cannady was an avid cook with many family recipes and she enjoyed catering many different events.
Surviving in addition to her husband of thirty-five years, is a son, Michael Joseph Joe Cannady of Williamsburg; a daughter, Kelly M. Kravitz and her husband Philip of Staunton; a sister, Cathy J. Schoeller and her husband Michael J. of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren, Angelica Kravitz, Jonathan Kravitz, Timothy Hunter McDaniel, Cassidy M. DiPietro, Taylor Cannady Hawkins, Skylar Johnson, Lucas Nobrega and Josiah L. Kravitz; a niece, Robyn Stewart and her husband Dave of Fishersville; a nephew, Toby Jones and his wife Deanna of Lyndhurst; many friends from Staunton South Jehovahs Witnesses Kingdom Hall; and her beloved pet Marley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovahs Witnesses on Springhill Road by Speaker Matt Ordewald.
Burial will be private.
