Lewis W. Venable
STAUNTON:
Lifetime Staunton resident, Lewis Wayne Venable, 57, husband of Valerie (Baskfield) Venable passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Lewis Wayne was born October 20, 1954 in Staunton, son of the late Lewis Franklin and Rosa Helaine (Tate) Venable.
He graduated from R. E. Lee High School class of 1974, worked for many years at McQuay International and was a member of the Augusta Street United Methodist Church. Lewis enjoyed watching football, listening to music and spending time with family. Some of his most favorite memories are holiday times and Super Bowl Sundays.
Lewis was an only child, however, cultivated life long relationships with several cousins and close friends. His gentle, kind, caring spirit will be forever missed.
Although he battled a long term illness he gave us all courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Lewis spent many more years with his friends and family thanks to the gift of a kidney transplant. He was grateful and took the time to keep in touch and reach out to those he loved so much.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Juanita Venable of Albuquerque, NM and Jessica Venable of Staunton; a son, Jaron Lewis Venable of Staunton and two grandchildren, Cierra and Isaiah Venable. Lewis also leaves behind an aunt, Edna Tate of IN; and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by Pastor Michael Turner.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends immediately following the interment at Ebenezer Baptist Church and the residence at other times.
It is suggested those desiring make contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 in Mr. Lewis W. Venables memory.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is serving the Venable family.
